Window awnings offer many functions:
Blocks Sun: window awnings can block direct sun without the need to close the interior shades

Adds Privacy: when at a campground with tight spaces, you can now sit at the dinette table without looking into your neighbors windows, maintaining fresh air and natural light.

I had Carefree SL window awnings professionally installed by Shade Pro out of San Diego. The hardware (Carefree) is the same brand, style and color as my patio awning that came with the RV.
In addition to keeping the interior cooler by restricting direct sunlight, I enjoy the extra privacy when sitting at the dinette in close proximity to neighbors in a campground. You can also keep the windows open and enjoy the fresh air in light rain due to the waterproof awnings deflecting water away from the windows. And, unlike the patio awning that needs to be retracted in a stiff breeze, the window awnings can stay extended in winds up to 30 mph.
