DETAILS: Built-In Soap Dispenser

Prior to this modification, I placed a bottle of hand soap on the sink counter that I had to keep storing before I could start driving. This built-in soap dispenser matches the nickel finish of the factory-installed faucets and streamlines the usability of the sinks anytime/anywhere.

Below are my step-by-step "how to" instructions (including a link to the soap dispenser and specific drill bit).

  1. Make a dot on the counter where you want the center of the hole. Be sure that the plastic soap container will fit (centered) directly below your desired location BEFORE you drill. There are some obstructions underneath the countertop, so this step is critical. Measure twice, drill once!

  2. I put blue paper tape on the countertop all around the hole to help prevent the drill from marring the surface and to lessen the chance of the laminate tearing.

  3. Drill! Be sure to drill vertically and not on a slight angle.

  4. Insert and assemble the soap dispenser according to the included directions (it's simple and takes 2 minutes once the hole is drilled).

  5. For the sink outside the bathroom, step #1 above is even more critical due to a tighter area underneath. I also added blue tape on the wall because my drill was rubbing up against the wall when drilling vertically.

That’s it! It’s an easy mod that I use multiple times a day.
